Saint Patrick’s Day Hair Barrettes

Shamrock hair barrettes

My girls love holidays and all things girly, so I thought it would be fun to make them some simple hair barrettes for Saint Patrick’s Day. The best part is, I used things I already had around my house. Don’t worry if you don’t already have all of the supplies, buying them would be inexpensive.

What you’ll need:

Self adhesive foam sheets in dark and light green
Hair barrette
Green tulle
Green glitter or nail polish
Shamrock printable coloring page, I used this one from Super Coloring

First, resize the shamrock on the coloring page to 2 different sizes that will fit you hair barrette. Then print and cut them out.

Next, trace the larger shamrock on to the backside of the dark green self adhesive foam sheet.

Then cut out the foam shamrock.

Repeat this process with the smaller shamrock on the light green foam sheet. Cut the green tulle into several small pieces. Remove the paper backing from the large shamrock and stick on the barrette. Bunch each piece of tulle slightly and stick them on the back of the large shamrock in a circle. You can stick the ends behind the barrette if you need to.

This is how it will look when you flip it over.

Stick the smaller shamrock to the front of the larger shamrock.

At this point you can either trim the tulle so it is more uniform or just leave it wild. I did one of each.

Finally, paint some glitter nail polish on the smaller shamrock and let it dry and you’re done!

My girls loved them!
